Installing 10,000 new LED street lights in 2018/19

MK Highways is in the next phase of LED lighting conversions in estates across Milton Keynes as part of the ongoing energy reduction Project

This work involves designers surveying all the streets in an estate and then using special software to analyse and design the most energy efficient solution whilst also enhancing the lighting in an area to improve the environment during the hours of darkness. In conjunction with the design all of the columns will be structurally tested and any columns that fail will be identified for replacement as part of the same programme.

Once this has been finalised a programme of works will be submitted and planned for delivery. Residents will be informed ahead of this work and we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum.

We have seen a reduction of up to 70% in energy costs and in addition we have reduced our maintenance costs by 60% as a result of this capital investment.
