Department for Transport Grant Funding 2020/21
£2.796 million for Highway Asset Improvements

Milton Keynes was awarded £2.796 m grant by the Department for Transport who identified that the funding should be directed towards repairing damaged roads, tackling potholes and repairs to bridges/structures.

In order to comply with the 'grant' requirements Milton Keynes has set aside a dedicated web page that will act as a repository for all documentation in relation to all evidence and any formal communication. We have produced a series of case studies to substantiate each scheme delivered to showcase what work has been carried out, why it was carried out, all associated costs, benefits realised by the scheme and photographic evidence showing the actual improvement achieved.

Improvement on Roads - Milton Keynes has identified a number of roads that can be improved to extend the service life by applying a high performance surface treatment. The funding in this grant has been used to carry out treatment to these roads, this work was completed by the end of June 2020 - See case study below. We have also used some of the funding to carry out resurfacing of damaged sections of the road network

Tackling Potholes - In addition the grant fund has also been used to continue the existing good work already undertaken in repairing potholes on the MK network where we will be carrying out larger patch repairs and anti skid overbanding to repair road defects at an earlier stage before they deteriorate and form into more damaging potholes - See case study below

Bridge Works - Part of the funding will be used to carry out surveys and testing of the H9 Groveway bridge to design a solution to establish what repairs are required to ensure this bridge is kept in good condition - See case study below
